NEWSLETTER 22.10.2014

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome to this weeks newsletter –

ETHOS:

We will be welcoming in the first day of winter over the break – Holy All Saints Day. Have a safe and happy Halloween if you are celebrating over the holiday. Our school custom is to have a fancy dress on World Book Day in the new year, so please dress in regular clothes on Friday.

Our Green Schools Committee had a Green Schools Action Day on Wednesday. All classes made a piece of art from recycled materials. The committee went into the younger classes and helped them complete a recycling sorting activity.

Next month – our core value is Equality. We are having our Human Rights month in November also. We have planned lots of great activities for the children to explore.

We had a magical event on Wednesday which has become part of our annual school custom around this time of year. Have a look below –

HOMEWORK INITIATIVE: Thank-you to all who have returned their surveys on the homework initiative. Please return them if you have still to do so. Tomorrow is the last day.

SCHOOL NAME: The last of the children will be voting on the school name tomorrow, and this will be considered in naming the school.

TEACHING AND LEARNING Have a look in the Gallery to see how Junior Infants mapped their recent trip to the Luas line, with treasure they collected on the way. See Gallery also for  music around the school.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION: On behalf of the Parents’ Association and volunteers, we would like to inform you of our table quiz which takes place on Friday 14th November at 8pm in Mc Gowan’s of Harold’s Cross. All proceeds raised on the night will help finance a new bicycle shed at our school. We will also hold an all-important raffle and we ask parents to please donate raffle prizes if you have anything suitable. Please contact Deirdre Brennan at [email protected] for further details.

SCHOOL CLOSURE: School closed this Friday at usual time. Re-opens on November 3rd.

GALLERY – have a look.

Enjoy the break,

Dermot.
