Educate Together are state run multi-denominational schools offering equality based education. The ethos is defined under the following pillars –
Equality Based – all children having equal rights of access to the school, and children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds being equally respected.
Coeducational and committed to encouraging all children to explore their full range of abilities and opportunities.
Child centred in their approach to education.
Democratically run with active participation by parents in the daily life of the school, whilst positively affirming the professional role of teachers.
Canal Way Educate Together was founded by a group of parents in Dublin 8. The group formed in 2010, and after 3 years of campaigning, the school was recognised in January 2013.
Canal Way Educate Together opened in temporary accommodation in Harcourt Terrace, with two teachers, and thirty eight children in September 2013. The school moved to its current premises in 2014, the premises being the first building to be divested from a religious body to the state, for multi-denominational education, following the Forum on Patronage.
Since then, Canal Way Educate Together has continued to grow and the school is now fully developed into a two stream school. We currently have 381 children enrolled, 30 staff, and offer classes up to sixth class.
In the first decade of our school, we have succeeded in building a happy, enthusiastic school, with a fantastic whole school community.
We have achieved the following accreditations:
Active Schools Flag
Science and Maths Excellence Annual Awards
Winners of Young Philosophers Awards

For the main lunch break we are now participating the free Hot Lunch Scheme. Our supplier is ‘The Lunch Box’.
We do not have a school uniform. We are happy for children to come to school in clothes that will help them be comfortable, keeping in mind we are often outdoors and we have PE a few times a week.
