CODER DOJO We are continuing our CoderDojo sessions every Saturday afternoon in the school during school terms. The kids are having great fun creating projects in a programming language called Scratch https://scratch.mit.edu/ They have also had a few sessions with circuits using MaKey-MaKey http://www.makeymakey.com/ The highlight for some of the kids (and many of the mentors) has been the sessions where we programmed two very adorable robots called Dash &Dot https://www.makewonder.com/dash
The PAC have very kindly agreed to purchase a set of these for the Dojo. If your child is interested in attending or you have any queries at all please contact the organisers by email [email protected] or speak to Marie Byrne (2nd class parent (Doireann’s class)) or any of the other mentors in the yard.
For a taster coolest projects in the RDS is a free event showcasing projects that kids have completed. See http://coolestprojects.org on 17th June.
We are always looking for mentors to assist with running the Dojo so if you can assist please contact us directly. All mentors need to be Vetted so it would be an idea to get this done over the summer break as September tends to be a busy time for these to be processed.
