ETHOS:
Our Core Value is Friendship this month, and we shall be having our Friendship Week at the end of the month.
It is WELL BEING WK – NEXT WEEK for children and staff. We have a new Well Being Student Committee also formed recently, and they are organising lots of activities: First off we will not be having traditional homework next week, and we will have Well Being Homework instead. We will be having a stay and play morning Next Friday 24th, and parents are invited to stay for the first 15/20 mins and play board games etc with the children
Funky shoe day will be on Friday also – children are invited to wear funky shoes into school (shoes they design, decorate or mad wellies etc). This is an empathy exercise – details here .
CONGRATULATIONS:
To Daddy Simon on the birth of his daughter last week. Well done mammy also!
Best Wishes to the three of ye from the staff, children, parent community and Board of Management.
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT AGREED REPORT:
The Board of Management’s (BOM) first meeting was held last night. There are 6 members elected and the BOM discussed co-opting the final two community representatives which will be finalised in the coming month. Enrolments and school growth were discussed, along with the scheduling of the new building unit which is to be installed over the summer months. The Principal presented the BOM with the Child Protection Overview Report. There was an annual review of the Child Safe Guarding Statement and the Anti-bullying Policy, and BOM invite the parents to read both policies and to contact the principal with contributions for consideration. Both policies can be found on the website. A brief financial report was presented. The Board of Management discussed the current work to rule industrial action by school secretaries, which they fully support, and they agreed on a strategy to escalate the item politically and within our community. Parents are asked to raise this with political representatives who may be calling to doors, and the principal will be writing to relevant parties and representatives. The Board Members pass on heart-felt condolences to the family of the late Adrian O’Connor.
PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP:
The Parent & Toddler group will start back on Monday 20th in Room 2 from 09:15 – 10:15. This is a community based group and all families are welcome so if you know anyone in your locality with a baby or toddler at home who might enjoy this group please let them know. There is no charge.
CLOSURES:
The school will be closed for Mid-term break for one week from 17th – 21st February.
ENROLMENTS:
Junior Infant places have been offered out to all siblings in the school and the first round of enrolments have also been posted out to those on our waiting list. Enrolment offers have a two week reply period. We would appreciate a speedy response from all so that we can get down through our list as quickly as possible. Please direct any queries to Eavan in the office.
SYMPATHIES: We note with sadness the death of Adrian O’Connor, a parent of two children in our school. We pass on sincere sympathies to the family on behalf of the whole school community. Details of funeral arrangements can be found on www.rip.ie
Wishing all a Peaceful New Year,
