NEWSLETTER 21.09.2018

Welcome to this weeks newsletter,

CLASS MEETINGS: We are really looking forward to meeting you next week at your class meetings. To clarify, the children will be taken to the hall for activities, and the meeting will be in the class for ALL adults and teacher. It should take 20 – 25 minutes. Drop your children in as usual on the line, and we will call you in at 08.40 am.

ETHOS Autumn Equinox tomorrow and Festival of Sukkot will be celebrated by families of Judaism faith. Culture night tonight in the city – sure to bump into someone from the Canal Way community enjoying the festivities. Assembly was about Harvest today and Wilma’s class sung this morning. The garden produce was harvested, and while most of the veggies were scorched during the summer heat, we did have a basket of goodies to see. Well done all classes for planting and growing. We have a frog in the garden, who somehow survived better than the carrots in the heat. Watch where you are stepping in the mornings. Children are singing Feeling Groovy Simon / Garfunkel at assembly.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION: We bought the lovely benches in the garden out of money raised last year. Thanks so much from the children & staff.

Our new Parents Association Committee for our Parents Association (who you are all a member of) has been elected. Thanks to all who have volunteered, and we look forward to another great year ahead of events, coffee and fundraising.

MATERIALS MONEY – Reminder to please try and pay your materials money by the end of October. You can pay this by instalments via our online payments system.  If you cannot find your payment link please contact Eavan in the office – [email protected]

LOST PROPERTY – We are already gathering a lot of left behind hoodies, sweat tops and jackets in the school. Please ensure to label anything that your child may ‘take off’ during the day. Lost property will be hung out in the yard on Friday mornings.

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT met this week. The BOM were updated on enrolments and the members welcome our new families and children to our school. The BOM ratified policies and approved review of Communications Policy. Data protection, coder dojo, and extra-curricular activities were approved and discussed, and the BOM note and appreciate the work that has gone into these, by the parents association. Finance report was presented by the treasurer and caretaker position was discussed and approved. Members noted how well the building looks after summer works, and pass on thanks to all involved in the works. Big thanks to Eavan for her support. BOM welcome new staff to our team – Cliona, Orla, Ciara & Jayne. BOM were updated on the expansion – architect appointed and drawings are underway for the design. BOM wish the new Parents Association committee well and pass on thanks for volunteering.
