NEWSLETTER 18.05.2018

Welcome to this week’s newsletter,

Muintir Canal Way

A big thank you to all the adults who came and visited for Muintir day this year. We have had two fantastic days of sharing our school with our aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends. Thanks to Hazel for organising and coordinating these days. Thanks to the parents association for the tea and coffee afterwards. See gallery for pictures https://canalwayetns.org/gallery.php#6557

September 2018

If any families are leaving the school between now and September please let the office know as soon as possible. Thank you. This affects families waiting for places in our school.

School Tours

Thanks to all who have paid for the school tours by e-payment. We would appreciate if all families could pay before the tours take place

Junior Infants and Senior Infants – ‘Hazel House’ Tuesday May 22nd Farm and woodcraft, more info see here https://www.thehazelhouse.ie/ This tour will cost €20 per child.

First Class and Second Class – Pine Forest Wednesday May 23rd – Forest trails and art workshop http://www.pineforestartcentre.com/ This tour will cost €20 per child.

Third / Fourth / Fifth / Sixth Class – Clara Lara Fun Park Friday June 8th – Adventure Funpark http://www.familyfun.ie/clara-lara-fun-park/ This tour will cost €25 per child.

Buses are arranged and will drop children back to school at normal collection times. The bus will need to leave at 08:30 sharp in order to allow enough time for an enjoyable tour so please ensure your children are promptly on the line on their tour day.

Children will need to bring a healthy packed lunch and appropriate clothing for a day spent mostly outdoors.

Please apply sun cream before children get to school.

Young Philosophers Day

Today our 4th 5th and 6th class pupils were representing the Canal Way ETNS at young philosophers day in UCD.

Five year plan

Reminder that there is a meeting on Thursday 30th of May at 19.30 for parents, this will be facilitated by Deirdre O’ Donohoe from Educate Together head office. This meeting will be working on our shared vision for the school.

SPONSORED WALK

The children will be doing a sponsored walk during school on May 31st, as part of Active Schools Week. Historically, this has been our top fundraising activity in the year, so it’s an important event! We will need volunteers on the morning to help make the walk possible. Please contact [email protected] or your Class Rep to let us know if you’ll be able to help out.

Thanks for your continued support,

Canal Way staff
