Covid 19 – These are the current guidelines that are in place that you need to follow.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL AND CONTACT YOUR GP:
A temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or more, a new cough, loss or changed sense of taste or smell, shortness of breath or an existing breathing condition that has become worse, fatigue, aches or pains, other uncommon symptoms of Covid-19, such as sore throat, headaches, diarrhoea, runny or stuffy nose or feeling sick or vomiting.
A SUSPECTED CASE: If you have reason to believe that you or someone in your family has the virus, your first step should be to call your doctor and the HSE.
Do not send anyone to school if a symptomatic member of your household is being tested.
If a child develops symptoms consistent with Covid19 while in school, they will be brought to an isolation area, we will contact you, and they will wait with an adult to be collected.
We do not inform the parent body of a suspected case. Instead we wait on confirmation and we support HSE contact tracing teams with our database and logs, and they lead the contact tracing.
CLOSE CONTACTS: If your child has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, lives with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms or has been abroad, do not send them to school. They will need to restrict their movements (stay at home) for 14 days, even if they feel well.
They can stop restricting their movements when both apply:
- They have a negative test (COVID-19 not detected) 10 days after they were last in contact with the person who tested positive.
- They do not have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Please see the Isolation quick guide for parents and guardians for more detailed guidelines for different scenarios.
