Welcome to this week’s newsletter,
ACTIVE SCHOLS WEEK: We are really excited about Active Schools week. This is the planned schedule for the week:
Monday – football
Tuesday- trip to Phoenix Park for games and playground
Wednesday – Station activities
Thursday – Orienteering in Marlay Park
Friday – Disco and Sponsored Walk
The disco is going to be fun, we have been practicing our moves already. Please come in fancy dress to the disco on Friday. The children will be walking in their fancy dress, so please make sure they are mobile and safe. We would be delighted if you could keep toy weapons at home, and encourage the children to be creative in their costume – let’s challenge stereotypes as we walk the streets !
We will be sending home an Active Schools Diary next week. Please encourage your child to fill it out each day in response to the activities. We will collect the diaries when they are complete and really looking forward to reading them.
We need a volunteer to take photos on Friday at the disco please email [email protected]
Also please send you child in with raincoats/suncream depending on the weather. Reminder to those who have not paid the 12 euro covers the costs of the week so please bring it in as soon as possible. Thank you all so much for supporting this week,
HEARING AND SIGHT TEST: Senior Infants and First Class – please return forms by tomorrow.
PARENTS ASSOCIATION: We are looking for volunteers from both Junior Infants classes to volunteer to help on the sponsored walk on Friday. Please contact [email protected]. Also please return your sponsorship cards to your class teacher.Funds raised going towards school makeover during coming months. Thanks a million.
SCHOOL CALENDAR for 2015/2016
School begins for all classes on Tuesday 1st September at 8.30am
School will be closed on the following dates (inclusive):-
- October Midterm – Mon 26th Oct to Fri 30th Oct 2015
- Winter Holidays – Wed 23rd Dec to Tues 5th Jan 2016
- February Midterm – Wed 16th Feb – Fri 19th Feb 2016
- Spring Holidays – Thurs 17th Mar – Fri 1st April 2016
- May Midterm – Mon 2nd May – Fri 6th May 2016
- June Bank Holiday – Mon 6th June 2016
- School closes June 30th 2016

COMMUNITY:
- Yarns and Conversations, event taking place in some of the city parks for Bealtaine. One of the parks is St. Patrick’s Park and there shall be knitting and chatting facilitated by artist Niamh Synnott on Wednesday 13th 20th and 27th May from 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm. Weather permitting. There will be canopies and tables and chairs and a café. The idea is to knit and craft for the 3 weeks and then decorate an area of the park with the final product.
