Welcome to this week’s newsletter,

SUMMER BBQ – Sunday June 12th 3-5pm. Music, DJ, Ukulele, Live Music, Food, Drinks, Star Wars Characters and general shenanigans. All funds go to teaching resources for school. Please be responsible for your own children at the event. HERE IS A POSTER FOR THE EVENT >>>>  BBQPOSTER_fin (1)

Musicians – We are looking for musicians to plug in and play a few tunes. Please contact the office if you would like to volunteer or contact me directly.

REMINDER – School is closed on Monday and Tuesday.  School closes for Summer Break on the 30th June at 12pm and re-opens for all classes on the 1st September at 08:30.

GARDEN – The children are spending lots of time in the garden these days. We had a teddy bears picnic today for junior infants and a real teddy bear popped in. He was a fantastic character and the children loved him. Aodán is raging he missed him, as he had just popped out for a message when he arrived into the garden. Maybe he’ll be back next year Aodán !

NEW JUNIOR INFANTS – We welcomed our new junior infant parents to Canalway ETNS on Monday evening. It was a lovely evening – thanks to the staff for presentations and hosting, which will help our new families for September.

SENIOR INFANTS – Ciarán & Dermot are team teaching at the moment and the senior infants are enjoying sharing Gaeilge and music lessons.

ACTIVE SCHOOLS WEEK – Check out the gallery for lots of photos. Thanks again to the staff and adults for making it such fun.

NEW SCHOOL YEAR – We have new furniture ordered and it shall be delivered in the coming weeks. We will be getting the remaining empty rooms ready for classrooms for September. This will mean the parent’s room will not be available next year unfortunately, as we will be at full capacity. It will also mean extracurricular activities will be scaled down somewhat. But be assured the committee members are working to maximise use of the available space around the building for after-school activities. We will keep you informed of this in the coming months.

HEALTH We have been informed that there has been a student who a contagious infection Impetigo in 1st class. If you spot any sores – mostly around mouth (similar to chicken pox) please get to GP for a course of antibiotics and stay off school until it has cleared. Thanks.

The Visitors are still here, please treat – We will send a reminder text on Saturday so put the immersion on and get combing!
